Global Stage: 2023 Wheelchair Softball World Series

In August 2023, the Jude Wheelchair Sports Foundation reached a historic milestone. Representing the rising spirit of African adaptive athletics, Team Ghana (The Black Loopers) made their official debut on the world stage in Crestwood, Illinois. Competing against elite, seasoned teams from the United States and Japan, our athletes proved that physical boundaries are no match for determination.

The Results of Excellence

Our delegation didn't just participate—they excelled. Ghana secured a remarkable 2nd Place podium finish in their category. Beyond the trophies, the team returned with 4 international-standard wheelchairs and professional gear to help train the next generation of players in West Africa.

Technical Growth & Advocacy

While Ghana took the victory with a 4-3 scoreline, the real winner was the sport itself. The event, supported by Bet9ja, highlighted the desperate need for specialized adaptive equipment. This match catalyzed a new movement among sports officials to invest in high-performance wheelchairs for Nigerian athletes.

What's Next for JWSF?

Our journey doesn't stop at the finish line. We are currently planning expanded training clinics across Africa and preparing for the next cycle of global competitions. Our goal is to ensure that every wheelchair-bound individual has a path from recreational play to the world stage.
